Why Start Online Therapy in Colorado?

Finding time to prioritize mental health can be challenging. Whether you’re juggling work, family, or other aspects of life, making the time to visit a therapist in person can feel overwhelming and time consuming. This is where online therapy comes in! Online therapy offers a flexible and convenient way to address your mental health.

Online therapy in Colorado allows you to receive the support you need from the comfort of your own home, office, or even your car!  And let’s be honest—Denver traffic has become a real challenge in recent years, making it tough to get to appointments on time. Online therapy removes this barrier, so you don’t have to worry about being late or facing a dreaded no-show or late cancellation fee. Plus, virtual therapy gives you access to specialists who may not be available locally, helping you find the RIGHT therapist for you.

Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting struggles, or other mental health challenges, online therapy offers a safe, effective, and accessible way to start your journey toward healing. You deserve support that fits seamlessly into your life, and online therapy makes this possible.

Pros of Online Therapy

Convenience and Flexibility: Put simply- online therapy is incredibly convenient. You can attend sessions from anywhere, whether you’re at home, at work, or in your car (please no driving during sessions!). This flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into your schedule, reducing the stress of commuting and finding time in your busy day.

  1. Access to Specialized Care: In some areas, finding a therapist who specializes in your specific needs can be challenging. Online therapy expands your options, allowing you to connect with a therapist who has the expertise and experience to help you, regardless of geographical barriers.

  2. Comfort and Privacy: Online therapy allows you to receive support in a familiar and comfortable environment, helping you feel more relaxed and open during sessions. You have the flexibility to choose where you feel safest and most at ease for your sessions. Additionally, online therapy offers a high level of privacy, as you can attend from your own secure space. If you have concerns about privacy, we can work together to find a location that feels both good and private for your sessions.

  3. Continuity of Care: Life can be unpredictable, and sometimes unexpected events or travel can disrupt your routine. Online therapy ensures that you can maintain consistency in your care. This continuity is crucial for building trust and making progress in therapy.

Show up as your Authentic Self: I encourage you to bring your genuine self to each session! Whether that means wearing pajamas, snuggling up with a blanket, lighting a candle, or enjoying a cup of tea—this space is yours to feel comfortable. You can also bring along anything that helps you feel at ease, like snacks, fidgets, or your favorite cozy outfit. The goal is to create an environment where you can relax, feel safe, and fully engage in the therapeutic process.

Misconceptions About Online Therapy

Despite its growing popularity, there are still some misconceptions about online therapy. Let’s address a few common ones:

  1. “Online therapy isn’t as effective as in-person therapy.” Research has shown that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy The therapeutic relationship, communication, and interventions can all be effectively delivered through online platforms. The key is finding a therapist who you connect with, who is skilled in providing online care, and who understands your needs.

  2. “It’s hard to connect with a therapist online.” While it might seem challenging to connect with a therapist online, many clients are pleasantly surprised at how quickly they adapt to the format. In fact, being in their own safe space often makes it easier for them to open up. Many of my clients have been amazed at how connected they feel to me, even through a screen. Know that I can attune to your needs, empathize, and fully understand you in the online therapeutic space, just as I would in person.

  3. “Online therapy is impersonal.” Online therapy is designed to be just as personalized and tailored as in-person therapy. I will work with you to create a treatment plan that addresses your unique needs and goals. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship where trust, safety, and comfort are prioritized, making your experience both personal and meaningful.

  4. “Technical issues make online therapy unreliable.” ; “Virtual therapy isn’t safe”: While technical issues can occasionally occur, most online therapy platforms are designed to be user-friendly and reliable. I will work with you to ensure that any issues are resolved as quickly as possible, and that you have a smooth and uninterrupted experience. We will also talk about backup plans if anything happens!  I only use HIPAA compliant and secure software, ensuring your information and privacy is protected.
